Arxania has always been a chaotic continent, ever since its very origin. The difficulty of getting access to natural resources which could facilitate the lives of its inhabitants, due to the geographic conditions of its lands, made positive coexistence and peace among clans a rarity. Clans got organised into guilds specialising in certain resources in order to work with them in a more efficient manner. And, then, magic was discovered. Magic to create, magic to manipulate, magic to teach, magic to destroy.
And, in the middle of the chaos, a gift from the deities who, from their distant residence, observed and debated about how their little experiment in the form of humanity was developing. Their gift, a baby who was bound to become the greatest Archmage to ever set foot in Arxania, in times past and still to come, Arjonaurum, whose connection to magic was so intimate that just by whispering the words, elements bowed in recognition.
But an unwritten but universal law ruling life makes it clear that balance must be preserved and so, against the own will of the deities, the dark nature of magic gave birth to Arjonaurum’s evil twin, Yasihlab, he who commands the wind and the fire, he who has electricity in his veins instead of blood. He whose existence only serves one goal, becoming the ruler of arxaniankind.
Arjonaurum sacrificed himself to give the one hundred maisters, the chosen scholar-warriors from the 20 clans, the chance to defeat Yasihlab and banish him from Arxania so balance could be restored because when order imposes its uniformity, chaos strikes back twice as hard. And, after letting loose the power of the Statue of Prosperity, they managed to escape the caves of Avilair which connect the two planes of existence. And the Statue ceased to be, becoming just an ornament until, legends say, its power is invoked and awaken once more in times of the greatest necessity.
200 years have passed ever since, and prosperity is no longer only the title of the Statue, but also the living condition of Arxanians, who were bequeathed with long-lasting peace. And peace has brought carelessness for the past, and shallowness and naivety, all of which displeases some deities. So, in order to prove themselves to the old ones, but also to flaunt their prowess, the Prosperity Games were established, signalling a special week when Arxania’s only focus is the competition.
